On a Winter's Day

Last Sunday was one of those weird weekends in Winter where it suddenly felt like 60 degrees after a series of sub zero temperatures accompanied by a Polar Vortex phenomenon. As radical as it may sound,  I actually appreciate this unseasonable warmth. I decided to ditch my puffer coat, get out of my cozy cubby hole and go for a walk. I’ve been hibernating for the past couple of weeks, and that’s when I realized, sometimes New York can be simple, uncomplicated in Winter. New York and I typically have warm and sentimental feelings toward each other; however, last week she embraced me with a colossal block of frigid reality and so I was forced to stay mostly indoors…

So much for the saying, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
-The time She (New York) and I have spent apart has been good for us.

She never failed me, my purse for all seasons..

to give it sweetness?” -John Steinbeck
