On a Winter's Day
Last Sunday was one of
those weird weekends in Winter where it suddenly felt like 60 degrees after a series of
sub zero temperatures accompanied by a Polar Vortex phenomenon. As radical as it may sound, I actually appreciate this
unseasonable warmth. I decided to ditch my
puffer coat, get out of my cozy cubby hole and go for a walk. I’ve been hibernating for the
past couple of weeks, and that’s when I realized, sometimes New York can be
simple, uncomplicated in Winter. New York and I typically have warm and sentimental feelings toward each other; however, last week she embraced me with a colossal block of
frigid reality and so I was forced
to stay mostly indoors…
So much for the saying, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.”
-The time She (New York) and I have spent apart has been good for us.
She never failed me, my purse for all seasons..
“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter
to give it sweetness?” -John Steinbeck
